Recipe for Four Cups


  • Brown sugar
  • Four pounds of peeled and then chopped yellow onions
  • One stick of unsalted butter or half a cup of it (it should be cut in parts)
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Ground pepper and Kosher salt


The onions should be put in the slow cooker with the butter over them. Seal the cooker. Start cooking them on low temperature for 8 hours. Make sure you stir them from time to time.

When the 8 hours pass, check the onions. Take a look at their consistency and their appearance. They need to be tender. You can then add the brown sugar, salt, balsamic vinegar and ground pepper.

Cover the cooker but with a slightly open lid. Leave them to cook for additional 2 hours. The onions should be left with minimal juice.
